We Are Ready for Basant Festival 2026 – Cork, Ireland!

The Basant Festival in Carrigaline has, over the past four years, grown into a vibrant and unique platform that represents and promotes South Asian identity in Ireland. What began as a small event has now become a major multi- disciplinary, intercultural gathering, attracting South Asian communities from all across Ireland and beyond. Each year, the festival welcomes over 1,200 people in a single day in Carrigaline Community Park and engages around 5,000 people across its programming. The festival is an artist-led, community-based family-fun initiative that collaborates closely with local facilities, organisations, and volunteers. It offers an exciting blend of outdoor and indoor events, creating a rich artistic and cultural experience for all ages, genders, and communities. The programme includes art exhibitions, creative workshops, community crafting competitions, traditional Indian dance, film screenings, live bhangra dance and dhol drumming, authentic South Asian food stalls and much loved Mango Party for event delegates. These activities foster cultural connection while showcasing the creativity and heritage of South Asian communities living in Ireland.At the center of it all is the iconic kite-flying tradition, the most engaging element of Basant, filling the Carrigaline sky with color and joy and connect all communities. Today, the Basant Festival stands as a celebration of diversity, community spirit, and artistic expression—bringing people together in artistic way, and strengthening cross-cultural understanding in Carrigaline. The 5th edition 3 - 5 July, 2026 aims to elevate professionalism, expand its skilled team, enhancecreative production, and deliver a richer, diverse, high-quality, multi- disciplinary, artistic and cultural experience for all communities.
